Miranda Rights

“You have the right to remain silent. Anything you say or do can and will be used against you in a court of law. You have the right to an attorney. If you cannot afford one, one will be provided to you by the state if available. Do you understand these rights as I have read them to you?"

Guilty Plea

A person can enter a plea of "guilty' by admitting in court that he or she committed the offense for which he she is charged. The Jury can render a verdict of "guilty' if it finds beyond a reasonable doubt, based on the evidence, that the defendant committed the offense.

Not Guilty Plea

A person can enter the plea of "not guilty" by contesting the charges brought against him or her by the prosecution. The court will then set up a trial date for both parties to decide the fate of the defense.
